Hi there, I'm Julia!

I am a second-year Master of Health Sciences student at Ontario Tech University with a passion for healthcare education and simulation! Believe it or not, I have not always had this passion. I have been drawn to the healthcare field in the past and was originally planning on going to medical school after my undergraduate degree. However, I felt out of place and not fully committed to being a physician.

 

With not much of a direction, I was introduced to Dr. Adam Dubrowski and his research laboratory called maxSIMhealth. This unique and interdisciplinary group focused on developing simulations for healthcare education using additive manufacturing techniques, such as 3D printing, as well as Virtual/Augmented/Mixed Reality. After my first project of developing intramuscular injection pads using silicone for the Faculty of Nursing at Ontario Tech University, I became hooked on the world of simulation education.

 

I had finally found my place within the healthcare field and haven't looked back. Since then, my interests have blossomed into using simulation as a means to provide education to healthcare trainees and professionals, whether that is nurses, paramedics, or physicians! I cannot wait to continue pursuing this field as I embark on my Ph.D. in September 2023, and eventually have a career as a professor and supervisor to teach younger generations about the field of simulation-based medical education.
